Hotels in Latin America and other accommodations
A whole continent and more's worth of places to stay in should have room enough for any traveller. To get the most out of your Latin American vacation though, you might want to go beyond the creature comforts of a hotel chain or even a bed and breakfast lodge.
Ecocamps are signing on in Latin America's nature parks. In Patagonia for example, you can stay in raised tent that runs on solar energy and wind, and then take tours of the craggy coast and the sub-Antarctic wildlife during the long days of summer.
Just outside the Inca's walled city, the Macchu Picchu Sanctuary gets you postcard views and good slice of the surrounding mountains, a good destination after trekking up the trails for a few days.
You may also opt for temporary apartments for stays as short as three days, or a couple of weeks. Penthouse units can come with balconies, Internet connection and other perks. You'll find them in Santiago, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, among others.
